The Mangyans live in a wide area in Mindoro. Among the many many Mangyan ethnic groups are the Alangan, Batangan, Hanunuo, Iraya, and Ratagnon.
 

AGENCY PROFILE

The National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) is the primary government agency that formulates and implements policies, plans and programs for the recognition, promotion and protection of the rights and well-being of Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and the recognition of their ancestral domains and their rights thereto.

(Chapter 7 Sec. 38 & 44a Republic Act No. 8371)

MANDATE

The NCIP shall protect and promote the interest and well-being of the Indigenous Cultural Communities/Indigenous Peoples (ICCs/IPs) with due regard to their beliefs, customs, traditions and institutions.

(Chapter VII, Section 39, Republic Act NO. 8371).
