Now on its 2^nd year, NCIP Davao Region (XI) was able to successfully implement in June to July 2009,  the Assistance to Community Schools Project by distributing/giving Educational Materials to pre-school and grade 1 Indigenous Peoples (IP) children and teaching materials to the teachers.

The Indigenous Peoples of the Philippines joins the Indigenous Peoples of the World   in celebrating the Worlds Indigenous Peoples Day. In partnership with International Labour Organization (ILO), the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) marked this year World’s Indigenous Peoples Day on the theme: “Celebrating 12 Years of Ancestral Domain Development and Protection in the Philippine under the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA)”.

The Ateneo De Manila University - School of Government and the Institute of Philippine Culture conducted a conference on Indigenous Peoples (IPs) last July 28, 2009 at Escaler Hall in Loyola Heights, Quezon City.

National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP) Commissioner Noel K. Felongco was invited in the conference and lectured before the students of Ateneo,  IPs, NGO’s and representatives of private institutions,  on the Role of NCIP in the promotion and protection of Indigenous Peoples rights in relation to Biological and Cultural diversity.
